This delicious red blend comes in an eco-friendly aluminum bottle

Jake Bilbro, one of three winemaking brothers from the family that brings us Marietta Old Vine Red, one of California’s most consistent values, takes aim at wine’s carbon footprint with Revelshine. This line of affordable wines comes in 500-milliliter aluminum bottles that weigh a mere 70 grams. It’s light, portable for an outdoor life and infinitely recyclable. Best of all, the wine is delicious. Revelshine is getting into national distribution, starting in Sprouts Farmers Market stores throughout California and Denver and distribution in Idaho, Utah and Arizona, with plans to expand eastward throughout the year. And as this column was going to press, Bogle, a leading California producer of excellent bargain-priced wines, announced a new line called Element[AL] in a similar all-aluminum 750-mL bottle. So maybe it’s starting to catch on!
